Conference on Economic Crisis Management: Survival & Growth
Date of Function: March 12-13, 2010
Preamble
The processes of globalization, integration and economic unification set in place by most countries of the world have led to globally interdependent markets and unprecedented growth. Such interdependence has also reduced the barriers that would normally check the spread of financial contagion. As a result, the economic downturn that originated in developed nations soon engulfed a large part of the world economy, creating an economic crisis of unseen magnitude. It severely impacted global trade; even well-established businesses found it difficult to sustain profitability and growth.
In the face of this challenge, managers have to devise innovative strategies and approaches that would help them keep their operations sustainable, and even profitable.
This conference aims at appraising and formulating the strategies for survival and growth of the primary, secondary, tertiary and social sectors which are reeling under the inclement global economic climate. It also aims at discussing the cases of those business segments which have shown enhanced profitability even in the face of this crisis.
Outcome of the Conference
a. Understanding the nature of challenges posed by economic turbulence to various sectors of the economy.
b. Assessment of the fundamental reasons underlying economic downturn.
c. Appraisal and formulation of strategies for emerging out of the challenges posed by the economic crisis.
The selected papers will be published in the form of a book and distributed to the participants along with conference kit and will be made available to other researchers for reference.
