ISET Golden Jubilee Symposium will be an event of special significance as it is being organized to mark the Golden Jubilee of the Indian Society of Earthquake Technology. The themes and technical sessions have been planned to provide an opportunity for scientists, engineers and professionals interested in earthquake disaster mitigation to take stock of the research and public policy initiatives during the past 50 years in various aspects of earthquake technology and to chart out future plans. The symposium will also provide an opportunity for the Fellows/Members to review the activities of the society during the past 50 years vis-a-vis the aims of the society, and to deliberate upon what future role the society should play nationally as well as internationally for further developments in the field of earthquake technology.
General information
Organizations and individuals desiring to present papers at the symposium are requested to submit one page abstracts of their papers. The abstract must include the data acquired, if any, and the new findings and inferences drawn. The original and two copies of the abstracts must be sent to the Organizing Secretary on or before March 15, 2012. The abstracts can also be sent by e-mail. Authors will be informed by fax/e-mail about the acceptance or otherwise of their abstracts by March 31, 2012.
Papers are invited on the themes given below, along with CD in Microsoft Word on A4 size good quality paper. The length of the paper should be limited to 3000 words and should contain an abstract not exceeding about 250 words. The manuscripts may also be sent through e-mail. The paper should contain original research and should not have been published earlier or presented at any other seminar/conference.
The author should mention his name along with names of co-authors, if any, and their affiliations, mailing addresses, telephone numbers and e-mail address. The deadline for submitting full text of the paper is June 30, 2012.

Who should participate
All individuals and organizations engaged in mitigating the disastrous effects of earthquakes and working towards the noble cause of reducing the human miseries on account of earthquake disasters are invited to participate and contribute in the ISET Golden Jubilee Symposium. Participation by practicing Earthquake, Civil and Structural Engineers; Seismologists, Geologists & Geophysicists; Architects, R&D and Educational Institutions, Consultancy Organizations, Government Officials, Local Bodies and NGO’s connected with earthquake disaster mitigation activities, Civil Engineering and Infrastructure Development Organizations, Engineers from Electrical Equipment Manufacturers, Construction Companies and Repair and Rehabilitation Agencies, etc., is especially solicited.

Roorkee
Situated in the foot hills of the Himalaya, Roorkee is the gateway to pilgrimage places in Uttarakhand and centers of tourists attraction like Haridwar, Rishikesh, Mussoorie, etc. Roorkee is situated on the Amritsar-Howrah main line of the Northern Railway and is well connected by train route and road to Delhi, Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh and other places in neighbouring States. The nearest domestic airport is at Jolli Grant, Dehradun, and international airport is at New Delhi, and express trains like Shatabadi and Janshatabadi are good links to New Delhi. The weather at Roorkee in October is very pleasant with temperatures ranging between 15 and 25 degrees centigrade. Usually no woolens are required at this time of year at Roorkee.
