‘SPANDANA’ means the vibration in Sanskrit. For us at Narasu’s Sarathy Institute of Technology ‘SPANDANA’ is vibration in mechanical department. This technical symposium is ready to witness new streams of thought from participants who are going to come here from far & near to present their ideas. Various activities are planned to tap into the technical resources of our Mechanical Engineers. We want ‘SPANDANA’ to be a platform in exposing creative & technical skills to the students. It is designed to be the arena for likeminded engineers to put fourth their well thought out concepts. It is an occasion to display the plans for futuristic gadgets which may enhance the quality of everyday life. We wish ‘SPANDANA’ grows every year to capture the interest of the corporate and our students get the best opportunities wherever they go. Come, be part of the change.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
· All the participants are required to be present at the venue 15 minutes before starting of each event.
· Regarding the results of the competition the decision of judges will be final.
· Teams are requested to inform in advance to the coordinators the day and time of arrival and approximate numbers of team members.
· Care must be taken to strictly follow the timing.
· Any form of miss conduct & indiscipline from the participants will result in termination of the team or college from the participation.
· All students must have ID card to attend and participate in events.

EVENTS
PAPER PRESENTATION:
Paper Presentation is an area where challenging minds present their idea before the challenging world. The students must work on any domain & present their innovative ideas before judges. Papers must not be strictly plagiarized one.
Rules and Regulations
· 2 members allowed per team (from same college)
· Soft copy of paper must be mailed to nsitspandana2012@gmail.com
· Last date for submission of full paper is 25.01.12
· The presentation must be in ppt format.
· A total of 10 minutes will be given including 2 minutes of queries.
· It may also contain other media elements like videos, pictures etc. relevant to the subject.
· Demonstrations or Simulations of the idea would be an added advantage in the event.
· Two hard copies of the full paper must be submitted on the day of presentation
· ID card must be produced by each participant on the day of presentation
· The judge’s decision will be final

SOLID WORKS 3D-MODELING
Rules and Regulations
§ Maximum of two members are allowed in one team.
Any number of team is allowed from the same institution The team members need to be from the same college.
2D Diagram of an object will be given to the participants within the given time. The participants should finish the model in 3D by using Solid Works.

WATER ROCKETRY
Single stage rocketry or Multi stage rocket of two liter capacity with well designed fins
Rules and Regulations
· Maximum of two numbers per team
· Each team will be allowed two trials
· Same rocket must be used for both trials
· Pressure range is from 40 to 60 psi
· Evaluation will be based on design, deviation, distance and pressure
· Judges decision will be final
Provisions
· Launch pad and nozzles will be provided
· Foot pump or compressors will be available

TECHNICAL QUIZ
Rules and Regulations
Team event (Max. 2 participants).
Any number of team is allowed from the same institution.
Duration – 1Hr 15min
Will be of 4 rounds which comprises of General round, Visual round, Buzzer round and Rapid f ire.

FABRICATION AND MACHINING SKILL
Ability to manufacture anything you are given is put to test.
Rules and Regulations
· Prelims:Objective type questions on Manufacturing Technology.Time limit-20 minutes-30 questions.
· Finals:Work piece and tools will be provided.1 hour will be given to finish the job.No extra time will be given.
· Points will be awarded based on dimensional accuracy,surface finish and tolerance.
· Judges decision will be final.

ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD SOLVING
Rules and Regulations
Three members per team.

Acquiring Solutions for the given real time problem in and around Salem district.
A total of 10 minutes will be given for presentation including 2 minutes of queries.
