About the Course:
The extensive use of digital data in our
everyday life and their inherent presence around us,
urges for the development of smarter and more
efficient approaches for modelling, analysis,
processing and communication of information.
Information processing techniques have gone so far
and are able to perform tasks that could only be a
dream few years ago; thanks to the smarter
algorithms, larger increase in processing power,
storage capabilities and communication bandwidth
available in today’s computers and networks.
This course aims at exploring the state-ofthe-
art computational techniques like Statistical
estimation and detection theory, Bayesian theorem,
multi-variant data analysis, Support Vector
Machines, Genetic algorithms, Particle Swarm
Optimization, Ant colony Optimization. Applications
of these information processing techniques in the
areas of Signal and Image Processing, Data Mining,
Pattern Recognition, Video Analysis and Tracking
will be discussed along with case studies.
